Ashley Baynton-Williams is the third generation of his family to work in the field of antiquarian maps, working for dealers in England and the US for 12 years, before starting dealing on his own account in 1995.  In 1999, he co-founded MapForum.Com, an internet magazine for antique map collectors, with his brother Miles, who designs web-sites for antique map and print dealers.

Ashley’s special areas of interest are:

  • broadsheet maps
  • maps by British mapmakers
  • maps of historical events
  • maps of Colonial America
Two catalogues are currently available on-line These will be followed by:
  • Catalogue 3: Sea-charts
  • Catalogue 4: Portraits of British Mapmakers
  • Catalogue 5: Portraits of foreign Mapmakers
If you wish to be notified when these become available, or if you wish me to keep a record of your specific interests please fill in the mailing list form

Please do not ask for atlas maps, particularly by continental publishers. The collector will not find atlas maps by Ortelius, the Blaeu family, Mercator and so on in these catalogues.  If that is your interest, then follow this link to MapForum.Com, to find a list of dealers who deal in such maps.
