ENGLISH COUNTY MAPS BY THOMAS MOULE
Maps by Moule (1784-1851) are probably, with those by Speed, the best known of all series of English County maps. Issued from the 1830s, there were several editions up until 1852. The maps were printed from steel plates, and though the maps are not big, they are clearly engraved with decorative borders, coats of arms and vignettes of scenes within the county. The only changes made were the addition of the railways which were gradually added during the various editions.
They are frequently called ' the last series of decorative county maps'.
All listed are in colour and in good condition unless otherwise stated. The size of each map is approximately 205 x 265mm. |
